Aspen is looking for an engaging, motivated, and dynamic Customer & Systems Quality Manager to provide technical support to external customers in Aspen’s Aerogel Material business. The Customer Quality Engineer plays a key role in being the face of the Quality organization in day-to-day engagement with customers.

The Manager, Customer & Systems Quality is responsible for establishing a positive working relationship with strategic customers to drive quality improvements. This position shall represent the Voice of the Customer related to quality issues. As will represent Aspen Quality Commitment with our customers. The customer service level shall be aligned with Aspen’s strategic direction and priority. Working with internal and external teams, the Manager of Customer & Systems Quality will be responsible for on-time implementation, coordination, improvement, and certification of Aspen Aerogels Management Systems quality. As the champion of Systems quality, you will be providing technical support, ensuring Systems compliance and maintaining Systems. You will lead / support activities related to ensuring product Quality conformance to customer requirements, internal business practices, regulatory requirements, and existing or desired certifications. This role will be required to facilitate collaboration on cross functional initiatives that improve product quality or maintain product quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer facing responsibilities:

  • Quality subject matter expert for a group of products in manufacturing. Provide onsite support, as needed.

  • Primary technical point of contact for customer complaints, changes to existing products and PPAP submittals.

  • Lead role in driving timely customer complaint closure within Aspen

  • Customer Score Card/Satisfaction – Responsible for monitoring, tracking, and driving improvement in the customer score card related to product and delivery issues

  • Customer Specific Requirements – intimate knowledge of requirements and translate/communicate requirements within Aspen and assure compliance.

  • Customer Audits – Responsible for coordination of audits and leading closure of findings.

  • Coordinate and Negotiated with Customers Charge backs and customer complaints.

    Internal - Aspen responsibilities:

  • Understand the customer application and product requirements. Translate and communicate the requirements into Aspen’s product design and manufacturing activities to drive improvement and customer satisfaction.

  • Actively participate in Aspen’s Product Development and APQP process, representing the voice of the customer.

  • Lead and coordinate cross functional activities targeted at customer complaints resolution and customer facing quality improvement programs

  • Engage in customer calls and meetings on program development, launch, and iteration.

  • Participate in RFQ’s for new programs as the quality representative.

  • Define , Monitor and Improve Quality KPIs related to the customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure proper Budget and CAPEX Management.

  • Lead the Customer Quality Engineers and Liaison Engineer of the Organization to ensure proper and fast response with customer.

    Quality Systems Responsibilities:

  • Spearheading and coordinating Systems quality-related functions throughout the Aspen Aerogel organization.

  • Establishing and ensuring System quality and documents compliance to ISO, IATF, VDA & other Engineering standards, product specifications, established process and procedures to meet customer expectations.

  • Working with all functional teams, conduct process documentation audit compliance for, developing and releasing product/process control plans, inspection standards, quality and testing plans and instructions, technical specifications and various testing and validations.

  • Leading cross-functional teams to drive process and product documentation compliance, using audits to identify issues, manage and facilitate problem resolution including root cause investigation, and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Developing and implementing Systems quality metrics; tracking and improving the performance of internal and external quality metrics.

  • Performing regular audits to detect non-conformances and process variations, reporting audit findings to the management as part of the formulation of the continuous improvement plan.

  • Consulting with the engineering teams and the management as the Subject Matter Expert on Systems quality-related issues.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline (System, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Mechatronics, etc)

  • 8+ years as Quality Manager or equivalent experience within a manufacturing company., experience with OEM (Automotive) Automotive quality, is strongly preferred.

  • Leadership role in establishing and maintain an organization wide QMS (e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 9001), successfully passing a certification authority (e.g. LR, TUV, BSI) audit, and achieving QMS certification

  • Tier 1 automotive Quality Management experience with complex systems involving hardware, software, suppliers/contractors, and customers a strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)/Process Failure Mode and Analysis (PFMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

  • Track record in quality improvement through the use of the DMAIC process, 8D, 5 Why’s, SPC and GR&R. Six sigma Green Belt certified, desire to be black belt.

  • Presentation and MS Office skills (excel/power point), Statistical Analysis Software JMP or Minitab

  • Excellent communication skills that focus on clarity and simplicity, both written and oral.

  • Certifications: Internal Auditor IATF 16494:2016 and VDA 6.3 & 6.5 Certified; Quality System Management

  • Certified Quality Engineering (CQE) strongly preferred

  • In depth knowledge of IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001

  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001

  • Experience/knowledge with ISO 26262, VDA 6.3 and Automotive SPICE strongly preferred

  • Able and willing to travel within US and Internationally as required
