Kitsap County FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST in East Port Orchard, Washington
The Facilities Maintenance Department is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of County buildings and properties. Work is performed in and around County facilities throughout Kitsap County, including the Kitsap County Corrections Center, Juvenile Detention Facility, Kitsap Recovery Center and the Medical Examiner's Office. The department also responds to tenant issues for staff and the public who conduct business at the County.
Our new Specialist should have knowledge of the standards, tools, and equipment used in building and mechanical maintenance repair work, as well as the maintenance of plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical systems. Work involves project planning, cost estimating, coordinating project priorities, and enduing work quality meets standards and code requirements.
Hourly rate is pending Board of County Commissioners approval; scheduled for February 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Required Education and Experience
- Two - three years' experience in maintenance, operations or mechanical work in related field.
- Related education demonstrating required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job may substitute for up to one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in HVAC
- Experience with industrial controls (low voltage)
- Experience working in commercial or public buildings
- Experience working in a correctional facility
- Associate's degree from a trade or technical school
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must:
- Pass a pre-employment physical.
- Pass a criminal history background check (fingerprinting) through law enforcement agencies.
- Submit a copy of their state employment driving record abstract to verify their eligibility to drive for Kitsap County.
Driving Requirements
- The successful incumbent must meet the driving requirements of this position and submit a copy a current driving record/abstract (from state of residency) to review for eligibility to drive for Kitsap County prior to employment. The successful incumbent must obtain a valid Washington State Driver's License prior to hire and maintain a satisfactory driving record as outlined in the Kitsap County Vehicle Use Policy.
The hourly amount for this position ranges from $33.07-$42.30. This position offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a pension retirement, and other voluntary benefits.
