Mentor and Data Collection Specialist

Position Summary

The Specialist will work closely with the Director to ensure that the grant's program goals and objectives are met.  The candidate should understand current trends in higher education as they relate to low-income and first-generation students and how best to serve them locally. They must be able to coordinate outreach to community organizations, workforce centers, State and Federal agencies, and businesses to present information and materials for student job shadowing and oversees the intake, registration, and orientation process. Working closely with the Director and other program staff to implement curricula and tools that are educational, and impactful, the selected candidate will lead students to enter post-secondary education and graduate.

The qualified candidate refers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and collaborates with on and off-campus partners to monitor and accelerate the student's academic progress. The candidate implements sessions including but not limited to; career planning, skills building, and mock interviews. The candidate coordinates an educational lecturer series and meets regularly with key stakeholders and potential mentees in the community, the school district, and maintains a strong relationship with students and parents.  Maintains advising log, files on each Upward Bound student to track contact hours, possible issues that might arise, and outcomes of advising sessions and student portfolios with appropriate documentation.

Data collection function include: Update and maintain program participant paper and electronic records with continuous, accurate information on student progress and outcomes. Generate weekly reports of student services toward program benchmarks. Track weekly student productivity. Present program data at weekly staff meetings.

Prepare data for Annual Performance Report. Maintain student files and electronic database for case management, tracking student progress, and monitoring program participation. Conduct weekly review of caseload toward annual meet program benchmarks. Assist with annual program reports to the U.S. Department of Education. Monitor electronic case files for compliance each month. Work as a team member with other staff members to support students' academic success and implementation of the UB project's objectives and guidelines, pertaining to recruitment, selection, assessment, academic performance, retention, and graduation. Review and prepare data for performance reports.

Required Degree

Masters -Psychology, Education, Social work or related

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree

3 years of experience working with underrepresented school children. 

An understanding of current trends in education.  

Ability to conduct virtual and in-person presentations to student, parents, school representatives and others. 

Database experience.
