Associate Director of Undergraduate Programming

Position Summary

The Associate Director for Undergraduate programs reports to the Associate Dean and Director of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), Office of Academic and Student Affairs.

Specific Responsibilities

Provide academic advising and support to enhance the development, ease on boarding and the transition process for students early in their studies.

Oversee activities for multiple undergraduate college programs that include but are not limited to the following:

Fall Welcome, Commencement, (Fall and Spring) Agriculture and Natural Resources Distinguished Alumni Award & Scholarship Event,

Oversee New Student Orientation (NSO) which includes but is not limited to providing assistance to department advisors as well as NSO attendees, coordinating efforts with the MSU NSO team, communicating needed information to ANR departments, etc.

Provide logistical support for the Demmer Scholars Program.

Service to college and university initiatives related to decreasing time degree, decreasing the achievement gap for under-represented populations and increasing student retention (including, but not limited to membership and leadership to related committees).

Work cooperatively with college departments to create, catalyze and support events or activities fostering access and inclusion related to student programs.

Collaborate with college and university entities to provide opportunities for student learning, engagement and career enhancement as related to student success.

Coordinate the college's Undergraduate Research Program including managing calls for student and mentor participants, reporting, and student selection.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs programs.

Required Degree

Masters -Student Affairs, Higher Adult Learning, Counseling or closely associated fields.

Minimum Requirements

Candidate should have at least general understanding of agriculture and natural resources with a Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Adult Learning, Counseling or closely associated fields. Background or expertise should involve Student Development, Academic Advising, Program Planning and knowledge of student support systems (admissions, residence life and engagement) as well as budget management. Individual should have demonstrated competency in workplace technologies and promotion of effective teamwork among faculty, staff and students.
