Michigan State University-Nscl Engineering/Physicist Accelerator II in East Lansing, Michigan

This position is responsible for fabricating, testing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing SRF cavities, accelerator components and associated equipment. Duties include perform processing and assembly of superconducting cavities, accelerator components, ultra-high vacuum equipment and associated production infrastructure; perform maintenance work on, or near, accelerator components which may be radioactive or within radiation restricted work areas; perform engineering calculations and analyze data; setup and maintain SRF processing and cleanroom infrastructure and equipment; work in cleanroom environments which requires personnel to don full body suit; monitor quality of SRF systems to meet performance goals.  Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.  Must have three years of experience as a Research Associate or any related position in mechanical engineering research.  Must have experience in operating and maintaining vacuum equipment, CAD 3D modeling and technical drawing software, procuring components and assembling equipment, Hands-on operation of gas delivery systems, Matlab/Python, finite element analysis (FEA) meshing, solver theory, pre-and post- processing and optimization for fluid dynamics, static structural, thermal, vibrational, fluid structural, and rotating flow turbomachinery systems, spreadsheet usage for performing complex calculations.  Michigan State University, Attn: Chris Bargerstock, MSU Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, 640 S.
