Position Summary

The Office of K-12 Outreach in the College of Education is hiring a Director of Programs. The position will provide leadership in implementing and coordinating a broad range of educational programs for the Office of K-12 Outreach. It will also provide leadership across the office's overall operations, including assisting the Director with managing fiscal and administrative activities.

The Director of Programs will review and select RFPs/grants for the Director's consideration. This position will also lead the grant submission process for state, federal, and foundation grants to support the mission of the Office of K-12 Outreach, which is to connect research with practice in districts across Michigan. This position will meet with current and prospective partners and prepare, negotiate, and manage all K-12 Outreach service agreements, including facilitating the MSU approval process for obtaining authorized signatures. The Director of Programs and Operations will oversee all grant financials, reporting requirements, and deliverables for the office, including facilitating final financial reports.

This position will work closely with the Office of K-12 Outreach Data Team to determine all project needs related to data and evaluation, including facilitating all Data Sharing Agreements. This position will also work closely with the Office of K-12 Outreach fiscal officer to provide financial oversight for all projects. The Director of Programs will be responsible for creating and communicating internal office procedures and processes to the K-12 Outreach Team and ensuring all University Business Procedures are followed. The Director of Programs will work closely with the Director of the Office of K-12 Outreach to develop office-wide goals and objectives that support the mission of the Office of K-12 Outreach. This position will be responsible for HR processes and procedures for the department, including working with the College of Education HR team on reappointments, hirings, and onboarding for Academic Staff, Support Staff, On-Call Specialists, and Student employees. 

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Management or field related to employing unit; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial or accounting practices, developing research projects, funding and grant practices and/or experience in a field related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in MSU Research Administration experience, financial or account practices, funding and grant practices, project management experience, and/or experience in a field related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
