Position Summary

This position involves managing and reconciling plant accounts, transferring funds, and closing out construction projects. As fiscal officer, this position will handle accounts under $500k, approve various transactions, and address accounting issues across multiple systems. Additionally, this position will use software such as Microsoft 365, project management tools, work control systems, and process documentation software (i.e. Unifier, Planon, and Nintex Process Manager).
Job responsibilities are as follows: 30% - Create and modify plant accounts. Transfer funds into and out of plant accounts, creating assets, and close out construction projects which requires a final reconciliation of plant account, moving non-movable assets to customers, and account closure. Entering initial budgets into Unifier.
30% - Fiscal Officer of accounts under $500k. Approving transactions such as payments, requisitions, and transfers of funds. Reconciling plant fund accounts by analyzing data from KFS, Planon, Business Intelligence and Analytics, and Unifier to ensure accuracy between all systems for each plant fund account on assigned accounts.
20% - Troubleshoot accounting issues that arise on plant accounts. Including sending corrections to IPF Billing, removing purchasing holds in Planon, and updating account and funding information in Planon.
10% - Project Accountant on purchase order projects with budgets up to $250k; creating and processing records in systems (Unifier, Planon & KFS). Creating purchase requisitions, auditing and processing financial transactions including; payment applications, change orders, reviewing contracts or sole source memos and maintaining insurance and bonds.
10% - Manage departmental group email in Microsoft Outlook. Compile data for departmental metrics monthly. Review and approve bidding documents and drawings in Unifier. Review data to see what rates to take on capital projects. Create and update processes in Promapp.
This position is eligible for hybrid-remote work after sufficient training (6-12 months). Regardless of remote status, all employees are required to regularly attend to work tasks and responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial statement and report preparation, general ledger accounting and budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of MSU's accounting business policies and procedures, including experience with a financial system (such as Kuali Financial System, KFS); knowledge of facilities operations; strong organizational and data analysis skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; experience with work order management systems (such as Planon) and project management software (such as Unifier systems); construction knowledge is helpful, strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to work independently and with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization; strong ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail.
