Overview Our Physician Practice RN will provide general nursing care to patients in the physician’s office by performing their duties to the full level of their licensure in accordance with NYS guidelines as outlined below. Physician Practice RN for a Urology Office - EPIC experience a plus Job Details Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience as RN in a physician practice or ambulatory environment or previous related experience. Education: Diploma/Degree from an accredited RN program, Bachelor’s degree preferred Licensure / Certification: Current NYS RN license BCLS training and current certification required from: American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS current certification where required Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical: Greets and welcomes patients. Uses two (2) identifiers for patient identification (name and date of birth). Escorts patients to exam rooms. Directs patient flow for maximum efficiency. Plans, directs and evaluates total nursing care. Work alongside and offer assistance to medical assistants (MAs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and reduce apprehension. Accurately and promptly implements physician’s orders. Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patient. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient. Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by physician and/or policy including patient and family instruction. May assist the physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes by team collaboration and as well as pre/ post procedural care Performs diagnostic studies as ordered by a physician. Perform other duties as required, including job responsibilities for MAs and LPNs. Triage all patients for basic vital signs, chief complaints and purpose of visit and reviews charts for recent visits, chronic problems, recent and outstanding laboratory studies, and other information that would facilitate prompt and complete care. Provides telephone triage for patients requesting information or advice and assisting with and encouraging appointments when appropriate. Obtains additional data from patient/significant other, EKG/lab/ diagnostic test results and other historical data. Reports findings to provider, recognizing abnormal findings or changes in condition. . Performs, prepares for and assists with in-office procedures and diagnostic testing. Assists with the scheduling of procedures, referrals and specialty services and testing as needed. Maintains and uses principles of aseptic techniques and infection control when performing clinical duties and tasks. Participates in team meetings/huddles to foster communication and provide feedback to providers, patients, families, pharmacies, vendors, etc. Enters provider orders into the electronic record for provider review and signature Patient counseling and instruction on health maintenance goals Salary Range USD $42.70 - USD $65.73 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and position location. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
