Aerotek Plant Operator in East Haven, Connecticut

Job Title: Plant Operator

Job Description

Aerotek is looking for a plant operator in the New Haven area. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and controlling process equipment, as well as performing mechanical maintenance throughout the water pollution control plant. You'll work closely with experienced operators to gain comfort across all departments within the facility. Your responsibilities will include greasing equipment, changing belts, oil changes in gearboxes, handling supply shipments, and maintaining records of plant operations. You'll also perform fire guard duties, confined space watch, and general work to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility.

Hard Skills

  • Some type of hands-on experience (e.g., construction, automotive, mechanical)

  • Reliable vehicle

  • Ability to work varying shifts, overtime, holidays, on-call duty, and emergency call-ins

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills including reading a tape measure and using hand tools

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work closely with team members

  • Maintaining a neat appearance

  • Adherence to safety and operational protocols

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in New Haven, Connecticut.

Work Environment

The plant operates 24/7/365, requiring operators to work in shifts. Currently, new operators will be assigned to the 2nd shift (3PM-11PM) or 3rd shift (11PM-7AM) with opportunities to switch shifts over time. Work attire includes work pants/jeans, T-shirts without explicit language, and steel-toed work boots.
