The Pratt & Whitney Technical Publication Systems team is looking for a Software Engineer to join an evolving, globally diverse company that’s moving fast to shape the future of aviation. The Technical Publication Systems team is responsible for building and maintaining the software systems that create and publish technical documents for Pratt & Whitney’s military engines. In this role, you will be challenged with unique opportunities to enhance these systems while addressing different requirements from multiple stakeholders.
What You Will Do:
Work in close collaboration with all Military Engine Programs to ensure seamless support for software systems needed to create, publish, distribute, and present technical documents; Managing customer expectations by ensuring the scope and direction of each project is on schedule.
Improving and maintaining the internal platforms that enable automated and on-demand publications of technical data.
Supporting dependent engine programs to ensure on-time deliveries of their releases.
Troubleshooting and resolving software issues to improve overall publishing performance.
Participating in the design, building, testing, and implementing of scalable software by writing clean, functional code for front- and back-end applications.
Preparing and maintaining technical documentation related to software development.
Collaborating with the Military Engine Programs to implement S1000D compliant tech data programs to be a subsidiary authoring suite; Reviewing / updating Tech Pubs base of estimates (BOEs) if needed. Knowing the status and content / the funding cycle per program.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience, or Advanced degree with 3+ years of experience in Aftermarket industry supporting operations.
Project management experience and knowledge of project methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile; Experience with GitHub, JIRA or other code management and product management software.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.
At least 3 years of Proficiency with Python, Java, HTML5, CSS3, XSLT, and JavaScript.
Experience with databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g., Apache) and UI/UX design, including proficiency in retrieval of data from relational databases via SQL.
Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or Finance, with background in Maintenance Data Engineering (MDE).
Experience with Pratt & Whitney’s Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) or Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) system.
Experience with S1000D, or other XML/SGML specifications, experience with GitHub, JIRA or other code management and product management software.
Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD software.
Ability to design and develop APIs.
Hands-on experience with Cloud Computing, preferably MS Azure.
Experience with CORENA or other technical authoring/publication software.
Project management skills using agile methodology including ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of high-profile projects.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
