The Peer Recovery Specialist completes initial SDOH screening for individuals in the jail setting and provides introduction to program. Provides support to individuals from a mental health lived experience perspective in both individual and group formats. Able to utilize the Wellness and Recovery Action Plan model. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the consumers served. He or she must be able to assess and interpret data about the consumer's status in order to identify each consumer's needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the consumer group.

The Diversion Support Services program works with individuals who are incarcerated in Middlesex County and released under bail reform to link them to services, including housing, financial assistance, physical health and mental health services. The program works from a peer-focused and strengths-based model to bring consumers from surviving to thriving.

Hours:

This position is Full Time, Monday – Friday, with some evening and weekend hours required.

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or Bachelor's degree (preferred) with lived experience in mental health or substance abuse as well as lived experience in the justice system. Must either have a certification to work as a peer specialist or be willing to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Experience working with population preferred.
