The Utility Divisions of Water Management are seeking a highly skilled GIS analyst to provide technical support with water/wastewater piping systems, pump stations, and other related infrastructure. A successful candidate will be able to thoroughly analyze spatial data and produce compelling visualizations for a variety of feature classes. The role will require the often to frequent use of ArcPro editing tools, sql queries, spatial analysis tools, and python scripting in order to meet the robust service expectations for the Divisions.
Duties/Responsibilities
Duties include creating datasets, digitizing geospatial data, creating map layouts for reports and contracts, predicting cost estimates, collecting field data, as well as, using and maintaining GPS equipment. This role coordinates heavily with the City’s Department of Public Works and Department of Technology Solutions. Other tasks as assigned may include:
Provide advanced professional analysis and project management on GIS related initiatives, including preparing project scopes, developing work plans, and mitigating risks. This role may be asked to test, review, or evaluate software or tools and may design, develop, and maintain specialized databases in coordination with the existing policies and expectations of the City’s GIS datasets.
Prepare, maintain, review, and submit reports, projects and other plans, and review completed work for accuracy, completeness and compliance with contracts, and applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information technology, or directly related field,
Five years of related professional information technology or related experience.
Additional Preferred Skills
Have a valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another state driver's license, be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technical program such as engineering, surveying, geography, information technology or computer science
Five or more years of related “hands on” GIS experience
Two or more years of experience with water/wastewater projects
Experience with technology business process management
Experience with MS Access, SQL
One or more years experience with advanced geoprocessing and/or Python scripting
Be a team player and able to coordinate with other divisions and/or departments
Experience with ArcGIS toolbox tools & industry standard programing languages to streamline data production & analysis
Experience with asset management software, Cityworks preferred
