Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Office of Community Engagement and Service seeks to maintain its legacy of mutually beneficial and reciprocal relationships with community and university. The mission of the office is to promote the engagement of human resources on and off campus in service to society for cultural enrichment, the dissemination of knowledge and the enhancement of the overall quality of life. Our staff is committed to the university’s ideal of student-centered success with students embracing leadership skills, critical thinking skills and research training developed through community engagement.

Primary Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Director of the Office of Community Engagement and Service, the primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of administrative duties on behalf of the office including excellent customer service, managing/directing telephone calls, general emails, and mailing documents. The selected candidate will be responsible for scheduling meetings, reserving venues, ordering supplies, completing purchase requisitions, preparing travel arrangements, and guest support for the Office of Community Engagement and Service, as needed and other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate must possess knowledge of Banner Finance, Chrome River or an equivalent system; knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of office and records management/administration; knowledge of managing budget; purchasing and travel; ability to work independently; to take initiative to complete assigned work; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; ability to work limited flexible schedules; excellent organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills;

Minimum Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

The person in this position will display effective written communication skills through correspondences to the public, students, the departmental staff, and university employees in general. Effective written communication is needed in composition of minutes, reports, and record keeping.

Duties

The person in this position will perform administrative tasks that include maintaining office equipment; and the use of word processing and other relevant computer software applications needed for requisitions, travel, student records and reports.

Duties

The person in this position will follow the office work flow to provide office support to the team. gathering and maintenance, budgeting, planning, and scheduling.

Duties

Duties associated with problem-solving include following the established office protocol or current university procedures; Escalates matters as needed.

Duties

Follows established guidelines and procedures to maintain student and financial records.
