Heavy Equipment Operator

Duties: Will be operating various equipment including but not limited to Trackhoe, Backhoe, Dozer, Skid Steer & Excavator.

Skills: Learn and follow safety regulations. Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects. Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work. Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met. Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers. Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment. Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain. Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.

Other Requirements: Have a valid driver's license (may be driving a company vehicle). CDLA preferred but not mandatory. Be 18 or older Ability to pass pre employment drug/alcohol testing and random testing during employment. Be able to pass a criminal background check. "Will consider hiring felons depending on the offense" Have a phone that the employer can reach you on.

Wage: $20-$30 per hour and will be dependent on experience

Shift: Full time seasonal employment with the possibility of being rehired for the next season. Mon-Thur starting at 7am. Some weekend hours if there is a project that has a deadline to be completed.

Jobsite: La Plata & Montezuma Counties

Benefits: Sick leave & 3 day weekends when possible. Major Holidays off.
