Vontier Sr Test Engineer - NPI in Duncansville, Pennsylvania

Support “New Product” design and production tester development on a diverse range of electronic and electro-mechanical products by applying engineering principles (both electrical & mechanical), critical thinking skills, and troubleshooting techniques. Design, develop and implement custom manufacturing test equipment for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), electronic subassemblies, and electro-mechanical final assemblies. Generate test plans/procedures, test fixtures, and test software for this equipment that will be used in both local and global manufacturing. Be part of a cross-functional team to bring new products and/or test processes into full production in a timely manner with a focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Support corporate and organizational initiatives by applying engineering principles, test techniques, and problem-solving skills on a diverse range of products and production equipment (both Locally & Globally). For example, AMT (Advanced Manufacturing Technology), FPP (Focus and Prioritization Process), simplification, localization, supply chain diversification, and other initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and troubleshoot functional diagnostic programs for production test equipment.

  • Interface, train, and provide technical support to production personnel for release of new products and test procedures.

  • Design electronic and mechanical prototype and permanent test equipment in support of new product development efforts.

  • Work closely with other departments during the development process to ensure design for safety, testability, manufacturability, and cost position.

  • Supports simplification and localization efforts.

  • Develop and determine optimal test methods and justify the purchase of capital equipment, software, or services for developing test systems.

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform as a self-starter to drive continuous improvement efforts in areas of responsibility, as well as participate in tasks outside area of responsibility.

  • Develop and lead cost reduction initiatives through continuous improvement.

  • Provide support for global cost reduction efforts.

  • Develop, implement, and manage ICT for PCBA’s.

  • Provide engineering support by troubleshooting problems and implementing timely solutions to maintain continuity of production flow.

  • Mentor, coaching, guide, and review work of lower level professionals.

  • Support manufacturing floor (in all departments – RJ/Mechanical/Vapor/Electronics) as required.

  • Must possess strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a self-directed manner without the need for daily supervision.

  • Actively seeks new opportunities to improve both test processes and products through AMT.

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred or equivalent electrical and technical experience considered.

  • 10+ years of test experience required and 2 to 5 years of NPI Engineering experience recommended.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing test processes

  • Experience with automated test applications required.

  • Knowledge of Visual Basic, C++, or other software development highly recommended.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.

  • Ability to program in LabView recommended.
