ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Estimator is responsible for preconstruction and the preparation of complete electrical estimates of industrial and commercial projects including, automotive, mission critical, housing developments, Design Build, and healthcare. Complete estimates include all quotations and subcontractors required for the project. A high degree of accuracy, communication, and attention to detail is required. - Accurately interpret the design drawings and specifications submitted. This includes all design drawings from all disciplines including civil, structural, architectural, and mechanical drawings - Schedule and participate in estimating kickoff meetings, verifying completion of checklist. - Perform the pre-bid bid reviews with the Estimating Team. - Review bid documents and attend pre-bid meetings and job walks to determine the scope of work. - Scheduling of estimating resources and planning required to ensure timely and accurate completion of estimates. - Complete budget proposals and follow and tracking for future bid opportunities. - Schedule, attend and lead final bid reviews with the Estimating Team. - Facilitate communication with the Business Development team as well as Designers, Project Managers, General Foreman, and others to resolve issues throughout the project. - Prepare quotation of materials and subcontracts. - Lead small teams of estimators tasked with preparing estimates for large projects. - Assist in identifying prefab opportunities and present during turnover to project management. - Develop scopes of work and/or bid leveling documents used in soliciting quotes for third-party products and services. Capable of leveling bidders to ensure complete scopes of work and accurate cost information. - Review and understand the Electrical and Low Voltage Systems specifications. - Follow estimating standards and guidelines. - Accurately estimate labor, materials, and administrative costs for projects, including filling out all closeout tabs. - Utilize estimating software to properly estimate projects, enter data, and perform takeoffs. - Create scope of work documents which accurately describe the inclusions, assumptions and clarifications used in preparing bid estimates. Write scope letter and prepare supporting documents to submit with proposal. - Complete bid forms and prepare necessary supporting documentation. - Verify and maintain detailed records of estimate revisions and other supporting documents as needed, to serve as back-up for open book projects. - Participate in interview prep meetings, customer interviews, and respond to customer questions. - Assist with the development of training and mentorship programs. - Develop, mentor, and train interns and new team members. - Participate in committee and department meetings. - Schedule and participate in estimate debrief with estimating team. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - High School Diploma or equivalent. - Two (2) year degree in related field or equivalent experience. - 8+ years of experience in electrical conceptual estimating, low voltage estimating, National Electrical Code requirements, and design/build estimating preferred. - Strong computerized estimating skills using electrical estimating software; experience with Accubid or Anywhere is a plus. - Strong knowledge in the use of Bluebeam software for estimating and construction-related purposes. - Strong mathematical skills, coupled with strong Microsoft Office skills (with an emphasis on Excel) are mandatory requirements for this position. - Competent organizational skills and attention to detail. - Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Additionally, presentation skills are highly desirable. - Ability to ulti-task and prioritize workload in a manner that ensures timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks. - Ability to work in both an autonomous environment, as well as part of a larger team. - Effective problem-solving skills. - Effective time management skills and ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
