Kaiser Permanente Pharmacy Infusion Supervisor in Duluth, Georgia

Job Summary:

Supervises and promotes Clinic Infusion Services for patients requiring infusion therapies and provides process and compliance expertise in sterile product preparation. Assures that pharmacist and technician provide appropriate, cost-effective pharmaceutical care to patients of the Infusion Pharmacy. Maintains knowledge of and assures departmental compliance with Kaiser Permanentes Principles of Responsibility and policies, and applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Makes members/patients and their needs a primacy focus of ones actions; develops and sustains high quality member experiences.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of the infusion pharmacies and staff when necessary to ensure timely completion of workload and completion of tasks.

  • Maintains policies/procedures relating to infusion pharmacy operations and professional practice standards.

  • Oversees quality assurance and improvement of infusion pharmacy and other clinic administered medication therapies.

  • Sets goals and objectives, communicates department for staff consistent with departmental an

  • Manages the budget and resources in a cost-effective manner.

  • In collaboration with Infusion Pharmacist In Charge, maintains responsibility of inventory and cost of goods.,

  • Works in collaboration with providers, department heads to implement, evaluate and improve quality management programs.

  • Manages operations of the infusion pharmacy, including staff scheduling, problem solving and conflict resolution. Monitors vacation, time off, FMLA, and wage and salary report in relation to performance to budget.

  • Assists in development of performance standards and on-going reporting mechanisms to evaluate staff operational performance Assists in establishment and implementation of department performance reports.

  • Plans and organizes pharmacy workload and staff duties to maximize efficiency/assure timely completion of tasks.

  • Provides work direction to personnel as needed and promotes a team approach by facilitating collaboration with physicians, nursing, and pharmacy staff to support patient care in the infusion centers and specialty clinics.

  • Identifies system modifications and staff education which lead to further improvements.

  • Demonstrates adherence to universal precautions and aseptic technique.

  • Takes initiatives to increase job knowledge through additional training, cross training skills development, and continuing education.

  • Proactively provides accurate resolution to inquiries, concerns, and potential complaints with a focus on quality, safety and member retention; continuously strives to improve provider satisfaction.

  • Provides staffing back up coverage as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience mixing and distributing intravenous therapy preferably in managed care settings required.

  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or functional direction experience in infusion pharmacy or home infusion pharmacy required.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).

License, Certification, Registration

  • Pharmacist License (Georgia)

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a Labor and Management partnership environment.

  • Clinical skills associated with Oncology and IV admixture.

  • Knowledge of technological and business developments and trends in Infusion Therapy and Hospital relations, particularly as related to managed care environments, required.

  • Familiarity with IV therapy procedures and technologies; sterile technique and infection control procedures and software applications related to infusion and customer satisfaction tracking required.

  • Ability to set priorities for self and staff in a rapidly growing, highly technical service.

  • Ability to design and manage processes and systems to assure program efficiencies and cost-effectiveness in a competitive business environment.

  • Knowledge of infusion pharmacy business practices and qualitative and quantitative practice measures.

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams and to delegate and motivate appropriately to ensure success of the program.

  • Demonstrated customer focus and customer satisfaction success in previous work environment.
