Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Data Center Metro Business Program Manager , you will play a critical role in supporting the financial and programmatic health of our data center operations. This position will report to the Metro Director and serve as a key partner in driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and alignment with Microsoft’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities
Lead financial management activities, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, ensuring data center metro financial accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.
Develop and communicate financial insights to senior metro leadership, translating complex data into actionable recommendations that drive business performance and cost optimization.
Manage the financial and operational aspects of vendor relationships, including contract oversight, performance metrics, and coordination of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Partner with data center operations teams to monitor and track spend, evaluate cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategic projects to improve financial efficiency.
Serve as a key resource for financial controllership, supporting month-end close activities and preparing detailed spend management review materials for the metro.
Identify inefficiencies or defects in processes and lead initiatives to automate, standardize, and streamline operations to improve accuracy and reduce waste.
Function as the primary liaison for critical vendor coordination, ensuring alignment between metro leadership, operations teams, and external vendors to support seamless execution of business priorities.
Collaborate with local and global teams to drive the adoption of best practices, implement process improvements, and ensure consistency in operational and financial activities across the metro.
Coordinate and manage site visits from internal teams, external customers, and Microsoft executives, ensuring a professional and seamless experience.
Contribute thought leadership to evolve processes, services, and solutions in support of data center operational excellence and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).

Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide financial insights by establishing performance targets, analyzing variances to plans, and communicating actionable recommendations to senior metro leadership. Drive financial controllership by managing budgets, forecasts, and cost analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Data-Driven Problem Solving: Use strong analytical skills to identify incomplete or inaccurate data, root causes of discrepancies, and implement effective resolutions. Proactively identify opportunities to eliminate defects or waste, streamline processes, and improve accuracy through automation.
Operational Planning and Execution: Develop structured plans and timelines, considering potential obstacles and trade-offs to achieve long-term business objectives. Monitor and report on critical financial and operational metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams and external vendors to achieve shared objectives. Effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including senior metro leaders, to ensure transparency and alignment.
Vendor Oversight and Performance Management: Manage vendor relationships by coordinating regular business reviews, tracking actions and performance metrics, and ensuring effective partnerships. Provide thought leadership to improve contract management and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Adaptability and Agility: Respond to evolving business needs by proactively adjusting plans and priorities. Anticipate changes in the operating environment and implement strategies to mitigate potential risks or challenges.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Qualification or equivalent AND 3+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology or delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments
OR equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications :
Proven expertise in financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and developing actionable recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex business challenges and implement strategic initiatives that result in measurable outcomes.
Strong proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Excel, and other data visualization and analysis platforms.
Experience leading cross-functional projects or programs with a focus on cost savings, operational improvements, and process optimization.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Vendor management experience, including coordinating reviews, managing actions, and driving performance improvements.Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a dedication to fostering ongoing improvement within an evolving and uncertain environment.
Good written and interpersonal communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and facilitating decision-making at all organizational levels.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related analytical field is preferred; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPA, MBA) are advantageous.
Data Center Operations Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,800 - $195,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $135,200 - $222,000 per year.
