Actalent Phlebotomist I in Due West, South Carolina

Job Title: Phlebotomist IJob Description

The main function of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.

  • Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment.

  • Update patient information accurately.

  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

  • Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.

  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

  • Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.

  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy.

  • Package specimens for transport.

  • Store specimen samples according to required temperature.

Essential Skills

  • Phlebotomy experience

  • Experience in family medicine

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in geriatrics

  • Experience with Abbeville Hospital System is a plus

  • Experience with Due West Family Medicine

Work Environment

The position is full-time with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The work environment will involve handling various medical equipment and specimens, ensuring the proper storage and transport of samples. The role requires adherence to safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00
