Job Summary

Are you looking for an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategies that align with Alliant Energy's philosophy on our benefits program?

As a Senior Manager of Total Rewards , your leadership will drive continuous improvement and innovation in our rewards systems, ensuring they effectively support our business objectives and foster a motivated, high-performing workforce. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures, ensuring that our benefits program not only meet legal standards but also reflect best practices in the industry. Through strategic oversight and a commitment to excellence, you will contribute to the overall success and growth of Alliant Energy.

This is a hybrid-remote position reporting to the Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Des Moines, IA or Madison, WI office. Candidates must reside in Iowa or Wisconsin.

What you will do

  • Performs all leadership duties including, but not limited to, hiring and rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, addressing conflict with care and respect, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing and modeling a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees report to work fit for duty, adhering to our Code of Conduct and modeling Alliant Energy’s Core Values at all times.

  • Develops, implements, and administers benefit programs – e.g., pension plans, life, health and disability insurance, and post-retirement welfare – and broad-based compensation programs – e.g., executive compensation, long- and short-term performance pay plans, financial and tax treatment – that are cost-effective and provides excellent competitive positioning.

  • Evaluates and ensures benefit plans are administered consistently and in accordance with plan documents, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

  • Partners with Board of Directors independent executive compensation consultant in review and development of executive compensation programs.

  • Supports leadership in the timely development and preparation of materials for the Compensation and Personnel Committee of the Board of Directors, in conjunction with the legal and finance teams to deliver high-quality meeting materials on time.

  • Supports the annual proxy disclosure and analysis process by providing applicable resources and materials for distribution in regard to executive compensation and benefits.

  • Develops strategies for educating the organization on benefit offerings to encourage effective management of employee cost and optimal benefit usage for well-being.

  • Participates in the development of the organization’s compensation philosophy. Partners collaboratively across the HR team to ensure adherence to compensation practices that drive equity across the organization.

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, or related area. Preferred

Required Experience

  • 7 years progressively responsible experience working within various functions in HR (recruiting, compensation, benefits, payroll).

  • 5 years progressively more responsible management experience.

  • Previous experience with the design and management of compensation and benefit plans.

  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive work environment.
