We are excited to announce an immediate opening for an Entry-Level Microbiology Lab Technician in a Food Science Laboratory! This long-term career opportunity is perfect for someone eager to start their journey in the food industry and gain valuable lab experience. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or relevant experience in the food industry with a strong job tenure.

Location:

• Candidates must be located near Columbus, OH.

Shift:

• This position is on 1st shift and includes opportunities for overtime.

• Have one M-F opening from 9:00AM-5:30PM

• All other openings are Tu-Sat either 9:00AM-5:30PM or 7:30AM-4:00PM

• MUST be open to overtime

Pay

• 21/HR

Job Description:

As a Microbiology Lab Technician, you will focus on performing microbiological testing on various food products. Daily responsibilities will include:

• Unpacking and weighing food samples

• Enriching samples by pouring microbiological media

• Labeling and organizing samples

• Transporting and retrieving samples from incubators

• Plating and pipetting samples

Additional Duties May Include:

• Supporting laboratory operations by coordinating various processes

• Receiving, registering, and preparing samples for analytical testing through data entry, weighing, and physical homogenization

• Conducting routine to more complex analyses following departmental methods

• Recording and interpreting results, ensuring proper identification with samples

• Operating basic laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, spectrophotometers, and more

• Preparing standards and reagents for analyses with accuracy

• Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the lab

• Interpreting customer requests and logging samples

• Drafting short reports based on preliminary data interpretations for the supervisor
