Amazon Software Development Manager, AZA Team in Dublin, Ireland
Description
As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for technology that will help innovate and build the future of our Internal GenAI Assistant.
You will be managing a high performance team of Software Development Engineers (SDEs). As a leader, you play crucial role in building a culture of best practices to ensure that the software we build and the technical processes that we implement are quantifiable with respect to quality and always deliver the best for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
Define the long-term vision, strategy, and goals for your teams
Prioritize, plan projects and features, manage partners, and track external commitments.
Drive continual improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of the platform while keeping an extremely high bar on customer trust, performance, and availability.
Foster the career development of your direct reports
Work closely with the team, partners, and senior leadership in establishing the vision, creating a strategy
Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
About the team
The AZA Team is responsible for A to Z Assistant (AZA), an AI-powered virtual assistant designed to help Amazon employees find information and complete tasks more efficiently, freeing up time to focus on serving customers. With AZA, we are building on our search improvements and making it faster and easier than ever to get answers and complete tasks. Using natural language, employees simply ask AZA for what they need or are trying to do.
Basic Qualifications
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience in engineering team management
Experience in engineering
Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
Experience partnering with product and program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
