Job Description Summary
The Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer is a senior role within Global Device Engineering’s (GDE) Electronics team, responsible for the design, development, and testing of electronics and electrical systems for medical device projects. This position ensures that products are comprehensively designed, tested, and sustained throughout their lifecycle. The role involves collaborating closely with software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless product operation and compliance with industry standards, particularly IEC60601-1 safety certification.
Job Description
Design and develop embedded hardware for complex medical drug delivery combination devices.
Work closely with software and firmware engineers to ensure smooth integration.
Conduct hardware design reviews and actively participate in customer requirements reviews.
Utilize Altium Designer for schematic design capture and documentation.
Lead system architecture design and present findings internally and externally.
Design, develop, and test PCBA using digital and analogue techniques.
Implement wireless communication technologies, including Bluetooth (BLE), LoRa, and wired interfacing systems (CAN Bus, UART, MODBUS, RS485, RS232, SPI, I2C).
Develop and execute tests to validate prototype hardware, collaborating with verification teams to ensure compliance with quality systems.
Research low-power, battery-operated designs, including DC-DC converters.
Support design for manufacturing (DFM) processes and industry-standard guidance procedures.
Troubleshoot embedded hardware issues and provide solutions efficiently.
Stay updated on industry trends and introduce innovative design approaches.
Contribute to multi-disciplinary, Agile development projects.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in electronic design and development.
Experience working in a regulated industry (medical devices preferred).
Knowledge of Altium Designer (admin/super user level is a plus).
Technical Skills
Strong hardware development experience, including high-speed PCB design, digital and RF design.
Experience in embedded system programming (C, C++); knowledge of Python is an advantage.
Hands-on experience with embedded development platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32).
Knowledge of DC-DC converters and low-power electronics.
Ability to read electronic schematics and datasheets.
Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Proficiency with test equipment, including digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, electronic loads, and power meters.
Experience with Agile development processes in multi-disciplinary teams.

Strong manual skills, including SMD soldering and electronic rework.
Excellent troubleshooting skills for embedded hardware and electronic systems.
Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
