As a Senior Director of BI and Advanced Analytics, you’ll be the senior leader responsible for leading the team towards success. You’ll be closely involved in all aspects of business data intelligence delivery from start to finish. That includes development, implementation, and maintenance of the Business Intelligence (BI) strategy and roadmaps, partnering with our internal business operations to identify needs and working with the entire BI team as they develop new work products. This role engages with 340B analytics, Clinical analytics, and Pricing & underwriting analytics business partners to evaluate, triage, and prioritize requests; and is a key leadership role within the Enterprise Optum Rx and Optum Ireland Analytics organization.

The successful candidate will possess technical proficiency in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Power BI, will work great with peers and internal customers, and have a passion for finding creative solutions and creating clean, simple Power BI reports that are easy for others to use to improve the business. You are also responsible for the build out of new cloud-based central data repository, development of advanced analytics to monitor and predict performance and trends; new user interfaces to manage various metrics and development of an automated alerting system that will actively scan for anomalies and outline actionable insights, all with the aim of providing insights to more effectively manage our Rx data analytics. In addition, Discover new opportunities to optimize the business through analytics, AI/ML and use case prioritization.

The emphasis for this position is technical leadership and subject matter expertise guiding the development teams through design and complex problem-solving. The ideal candidate will have strong stakeholder management experience, along with proven ability to manage engineering teams developing scalable analytics solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

BI Strategy : Develop and execute a comprehensive BI strategy that can leverage data in support of making business decisions, and building a workplan that includes people, processes, and technology to make the plan a reality.

BI Data Layer : Defining key metrics and creating the data tables in our BI data lake and data warehouse. (CI/CD, Orchestration, Testing, Monitoring) and building out standard development patterns

Reporting and Visualization : Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that effectively communicate insights to stakeholders at all levels.

"The Source" : Be "the source" for anyone who has questions about data. "How is this KPI calculated?" "Where can I see the data on utilization and deadhead?" "Where is the data table with all the truck maintenance information?"

Stay Current : Stay current with industry trends and best practices in BI and analytics, implementing them as needed to maintain a competitive dedge

Advanced analytics : Discover new opportunities to optimize the business through analytics, AI/ML and use case prioritization. Use of sophisticated analytical techniques and tools to derive insights from vast amounts of data. The goal is to improve business outcomes, streamline operations, and reduce costs.

Stakeholder Management: working with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide relevant insights; presenting at weekly and monthly executive steering committee meetings; working with stakeholders to resolve any project blockers.

Leadership of the technical development team of 20+ resources (Business Analysts, Business Intelligence, Data Science and Reporting Engineering), with a keen focus on continuous development of team members; advancing soft-skills and technical expertise.

Drive innovation by improving the business value of insights delivered to partners and do so by leveraging more efficient and cost-effective analytics development and maintenance approaches – improving the overall ROI of each analytic product developed and testing new technology and approaches to continually advance the capability of the engineering teams.

Drive efficiencies in current productions support processes via further automaton and reduction of technical debt and via standardization of development patterns and building cloud native products.

Ensuring Data Quality – building best in class data quality monitoring that ensure that all data products exceed customer expectations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

• Proven track record of leading technical teams and deploying analytic products to improve business performance. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities

• Proven experience in business intelligence and data analysis.

• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Power BI, Microsoft Azure, SQL, and data warehousing.

• Strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex data in a clear and understandable manner.

• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in writing and orally to individuals and groups.

• Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills with ability to balance multiple priorities.

• Effective data analysis and interpretation skills, able to draw and present quantitative conclusions.

• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating good level of maturity

• Experience with Agile development methodology.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Healthcare Experience

• Knowledge of Rx Business/operations.

• Experience with leading programming and software engineering team with knowledge of data modelling, data management, data design and data visualisation.

• Experience with Azure Data Factory and Snowflake

• Experience with DataOps experience (CI/CD, Orchestration, Testing, Monitoring)

• Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and data privacy regulations
