Amazon Data Center Operations team deploys and maintains the servers and infrastructure in our data centers. Amazon uses large-scale, high-density data centers and we support our customers 24x7 all year. We are looking for a Rack Decommissioning Data Technician to join our growing team. The Decommissioning Technician is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed off premises. Team members will also process large volumes of customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and properly managed.

Key job responsibilities

Key job responsibilities

• Decommissioning and processing of legacy hardware out of the data center facilities

• Relocating and moving of large enterprise equipment

• Hard drive installation, removal and destruction

• Creating/attaching labels and barcodes

• Basic Networking removal/installation and clearing of configurations

• Updating progress through a web ticketing system

• Documenting procedures

• Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required

• HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media handling

Basic Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma

• Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair

• Experience in networking

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of server hardware and components

• • Linux Operating System, Hardware or Networking certifications.
• • Basic understanding of Network operation / support experience.
• • Understanding of IT service management.
• • Understanding of Data Center environment safety and security.
• • Business level of English communication skills
