Amazon Enviro Program Manager - EMS , AWS Environmental in Dublin, Ireland

Description

The successful candidate will join the AWS Environmental team, an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS’s growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS’s global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products. The Environmental team has responsibility for building and implementing AWS’s global environmental programs that drives and enable innovation using cutting-edge information technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning to make environmental management seamless, automated and easy for all. We are searching for a Program Manager to partner with internal teams in the field and corporate-levels to serve as the central technical resource to drive highest level of data center environmental management systems on behalf of our customers demand for ISO 14001 EMS (Environmental Management System). An EMS is a set of mechanisms, processes and technologies that collectively through data driven decisions, enable the Enviro Team, both in the field and programs, to systematically and continually, over time, reduce its environmental impacts and increase its program scalability throughout all data centers in the field, its operating effectiveness and efficiency. We seek candidates who can independently lead, with limited guidance, the design and delivery of high-quality technical solutions that meet business goals to solve difficult environmental risk and compliance management problems, and influence team goals through tactical and strategic guided execution. This person will leverage their knowledge and expertise to define and implement a variety of customer-focused solutions while collaborating effectively across diverse teams. The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to present decisions to leaders, create plans, negotiate priorities, and provide clear documentation.

Key job responsibilities

• Continual improvement: Utilize risk assessments, compliance evaluations and other relevant information, to lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts, and communicate and implement best practices.

• EMS Documentation: Develop and maintain relevant EMS regional and/or global mechanisms, processes, documentation, training to risk and compliance management

• Process improvement: Identify and optimize operational excellence mechanisms, procedures and processes

• Technology: Manage development, test and maintenance of the information technology tools

• Communication, Training, Awareness: Communicate EMS requirements to relevant teams via workshops and meetings, solicit feedback when required and report globally

• Performance evaluation: Evaluate local, regional and/or global environmental performance and gather metrics/KPIs relevant for business leaders

• Internal audits: Manage internal audit planning and on-site audit performance including coordination of external consultants

• Management Review: Support the EMS Management Review process

• Incident investigation: Support the identification of root causes and development of CAPAs resulting from audits, incidents and other sources

• Compliance activities: Support as needed, teams to meet regional and/global external compliance (e.g., European CSRD) and company voluntary requirements including reporting requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field

• 5+ years of experience serving as a regional and/or global environmental management systems technical resource managing complex environmental compliance initiatives and programs across functional teams, building processes that scale globally in a fast paced, growing organization including: compliance obligations, risk assessments, performance indicators, environmental controls, emergency preparedness and response plans, training, internal and external audits, environmental incidents, and continual improvements.

• 2+ years of experience managing environmental sustainability external reporting

• 2+ years of experience managing regionally distributed/dispersed teams

• 2+ years of experience in managing field/site-level and multi-site level technical EMS and environmental compliance regionally

• 2+ years of experience managing deployment and implementation of environmental management information systems (EMIS including e.g., artificial intelligence) and technology (i.e., Gensuite, AUSTIN, Salesforce, Enablon)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in science, engineering or a related field

• Experience in regional and/or global EMS and compliance management in cloud-based infrastructure companies preferred

• 8+ years of experience in multinational company EMS and compliance program development, deployment, implementation and verification.

• 8+ years of experience in developing and maintaining multisite EMS.

• 8+ years of experience developing and managing environmental management information systems (EMIS)

• Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements across multiple organizations and countries.

• Excellent communication skills, strong relationship builder, solid influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to coach at multiple levels.
