GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director of Store Finance will manage the financials for key strategic expense accounts and complex multi-year capital initiatives within the Stores organization. In partnership with Store Operations business partners, this individual will manage forecasting and budgeting / planning activities, provide Store Executive reporting, and drive continuous improvement initiatives (including implementing systems / technology enablers).
This person will report to the VP of Store Finance & Strategic Initiatives and interact frequently with Store Operations Leadership and Store Executives. This Director will start with 1 direct report (with plans to grow the team over time).
The base salary range for this role is $111,900 - $210,300. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Own key strategic expense accounts and maintain financial oversight over complex, multi-year capital initiatives within the Stores organization.
Manage monthly forecasts for these accounts.
Work with Store Operations business partners to analyze monthly and quarterly expense and capital spending variances to proactively address unfavorable trends and drive best-in-class financial management.
- Partner with Store Operations Leadership to maintain strong financial oversight and controls.
Manage the multi-year financial planning and annual budgeting processes for these accounts.
Ensure plans are based on sound assumptions and are vetted and reviewed by Store Operations Leadership.
- Compare plan to Corporate Finance targets and partner with Store Operations Leadership to identify opportunities to close the gap.
- Partner with Store Operations business partners to ensure timely completion of deliverables, ensuring the "right" level of detail and accuracy.
- Lead preparation of Leadership-level and Executive-level presentations and reporting, and complete ad hoc follow-up analyses on issues or trends identified from reports produced.
Identify and drive initiatives that improve key processes, including systems / technology enablers.
Evaluate current processes, identify areas where operational continuous improvement is needed, and work with Store Operations Leadership and other stakeholders to root cause problems and implement improvements.
- Work cross-functionally to identify and implement systems / technology enablers that will make expense tracking and financial management (at the store level) more efficient.
On an as-needed basis, structure and conduct strategic analyses to answer questions that arise around store performance, capital spending return on investment, operational issues and other topics.
Provide analytical support and scenario analysis to support decision making.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree required with demonstrated superior college performance (preferably in an analytical field such as Finance, Economics, Accounting, etc.)
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Minimum of 8-10 years post-college experience with demonstrated success at increasing levels of responsibility
- Strong familiarity with core financial planning and analysis processes including budgeting, forecasting and financial control process design
- Outstanding analytical ability - must have a data driven approach to solving problems. Requires very strong quantitative skills, a good sense of how to dissect problems and a strong ability to "connect the dots" - e.g., understand how pieces of data interact with each other or how one finding should inform the result of another analysis
- Track record of successful team development - managing a team to high levels of performance and developing team members for growth and advancement
- Dynamic, intellectually curious and self-motivated - must have the business acumen and drive necessary to be part of managing in a fast-paced, changing retail environment
- Excellent communication skills - must be able to clearly communicate results and implications of analysis in both verbal and written (PowerPoint) forms
- A detail-oriented approach: Must pay very close attention to details and have the drive to get things right
- Relationship Building - needs to be able to build effective working relationships with a broad range of people across the organization
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills, and is able to partner effectively with stakeholders across the Stores organization
- Strong fundamental business technical skills - must be Excel and PowerPoint proficient and have an ability to learn new business process software applications (Hyperion, DART)
- Unquestionable personal and professional character and integrity - must be trustworthy with confidential information
- Prior retail or related experience is preferred. An ideal candidate understands the intricacies of a retail P&L and balance sheet and will understand the financial operating requirements of an off-price, low-cost retail operator
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
This role requires regular in-office presence, including attending in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.#LI-Hybrid
