Job Description

As a Smart Cities Systems consultant within our infrastructure and planning sector, you will lead and work with a team of engineers, architects, master planners, and technology specialists. The role will focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions for smart city projects, in terms of strategy and planning as inputs to multi-disciplinary large scale master planning and infrastructure design projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the development of system architecture and system integrator requirements for smart city solutions.

You will support the strategy development, planning and design, and integration of infrastructure systems that leverage technology to improve urban sustainability, resilience, and livability.

You will have an understanding of the smart city system integrators in the region and their capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership : Lead the conceptualization, planning, and design of smart city projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements.

  • Team Management: Manage a team of professionals, including engineers, architects, urban planners, and IT specialists, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure project success and employee development.

  • Client Engagement : Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, as a SMART City SME, building and maintaining strong relationships through regular communication, project updates, and responsive service delivery.

  • Technical Expertise : Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of smart city infrastructure, including transportation systems, utilities, buildings, and public spaces, integrating innovative technologies such as IoT, AI, and data analytics.

  • Innovation and Research : Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in smart city design and infrastructure development, and incorporate innovative solutions into project designs to drive sustainable and resilient urban development.

  • Quality Assurance : Ensure the quality and accuracy of project deliverables, conducting reviews, assessments, and audits to uphold design standards, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.

  • Collaboration and Coordination : Foster collaboration and coordination among internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to streamline project workflows, resolve issues, and optimize resource utilization.

  • Risk Management : Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and challenges, proactively addressing issues related to scope creep, schedule delays, budget overruns, and technical constraints.

  • Performance Monitoring : Establish performance metrics and KPIs to track project progress, evaluate outcomes, and drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and methodologies.

  • Business Development : Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for new projects, preparing proposals, participating in client presentations, and promoting the firm's capabilities and expertise in smart city infrastructure design.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in systems design with atleast 5 years in City infrastructure related systems and their design.

  • Project lead experience, with a focus on urban development, transportation, utilities, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex projects, preferably in the context of smart city initiatives.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering innovative solutions to address urban challenges.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources to meet project objectives and client expectations.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in smart city planning, design, and implementation.

  • Passion for sustainability, resilience, and equitable urban development, with a commitment to creating inclusive and thriving communities through smart city solutions.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering is necessary, with working experience in the civil infrastructure field, urban planning, architecture, or related field.

  • A Master's degree would be preferred.
