Job Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer/Consultant for Middle East to work across the projects based in the countries - UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. This strategic growth position calls for an experienced candidate who can work directly with clients and perform their own technical work. Remote and hybrid work options are available for experienced fire protection engineers with client connections and business development capabilities.

We are looking for highly motivated, experienced individuals to add to our growing team. The successful applicant will have a well-rounded background in building code and fire code consulting and possess strong analytical skills and business acumen. The position will lead building plan reviews, develop alternative solutions, review building design reports, and lead & mentor fire protection engineering team consisting of 6-7 members. Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage current and future projects and ensuring that financial targets of the Project are met and exceeded, developing existing relationships with key clients and delivering fire safety engineering solutions.

  • Provide Technical Solutions to Clients & oversee and peer review the work of Engineering staff, maintaining a high level of professional awareness of technical matters in the fire industry, providing updates and briefings as required.

  • Manage the building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.

  • Guide our fire engineering professionals, advising and delivering complex solutions to large construction engineering projects within leading consultancies.

  • Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client design issues.

  • Be the drive behind the delivery of technical excellence, team engagement, and the go-to in developing their key clients, excelling at being the all-important first point of call and lead discussions with the design team, Client and Civil Defense authorities.

  • Attend industry conferences to Network and embrace industry trends and best practices.

  • Manage, mentor and train junior engineers.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Fire Protection), Architecture, or related field, ideally working towards becoming a Chartered engineer.

  • 12+ years of experience in Building Code and Fire Protection Consulting within a consultancy environment

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE), preferably in Fire Protection Engineering or other professional designation in Fire Protection, is highly desirable (such as NICET Level IV in any of the Fire Protection certifications).

  • Working experience in the Middle East region, developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections.

  • Experience with project management or specific responsibilities for any portion of large complex projects is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies and able to undertake work independently

  • The ability and desire to mentor and manage our young professionals, endeavoring to be an integral part of the long-term growth of Jensen Hughes.
