OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for a Tool and Die Maker who will be responsible for schedule processes, fits, assembles, and finishes metal parts to make and repair stamping dies by performing the following duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Studies blueprints of product, die and die models, templates, and prototype parts and visualizes shape, mechanical structure, and operation of die

  • Computes dimensions, plans machining, layout, and assembly operations

  • Develops and coordinates build schedule to meet established timelines

  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, milling machine, radial drill press, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts to specifications, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications

  • Verifies dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in die

  • Fits and assembles mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components into tooling as required

  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining by other workers

  • Precisely captures information to complete work accurately; Ensures that information is always reviewed; Focuses on smaller elements and finer points of material or processes

  • Generates creative solutions; translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to modify designs; applies design principles; demonstrates attention to detail

  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality

  • Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years related experience in a metal manufacturing environment preferred

  • Understand and read and blueprints. Must demonstrate knowledge of production machining processes and operations

  • Previous tooling experience and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot tool and die problem situations preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence

  • Proficient at adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Basic computer skills needed

EDUCATION

  • One year certificate from college or technical school

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
