In this role and working with the other members of the design team, you will design and manage HV Systems and Components, including plant and installation engineering. First to define the system requirements, design sub-systems and component definitions needed for it’s realisation, and finally managing the design integration.

Essential responsibilities

  • Under the role of Project Engineer – HV Systems, you shall be responsible for following technical scope, applicable for HVDC on-shore / off-shore project.

  • Lead the design of Plant Engineering systems, station layouts and installation drawings.

  • Manage the HV Components, RFQ to Delivery engineering co-ordination, interfacing with sub-systems.

  • Manage BOQ consolidated at project level.

  • Integrate system engineering requirements, controls and LV system interfaces, MEP and CW system interfaces.

  • Lead the conceptual designs and co-ordinate partners / other stake holders for overall system integration and client interface for AC networks.

  • Understand the customers’ requirements, regulatory constraints and standards that need to be adhered too and ensure that they are fully considered by all stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain room book, inputs interfaces.

  • Present the engineering options to internal stake holders and customers in order to gain agreement and progress to the next design stage.

  • Create the necessary documents and reports to articulate the proposed design and it’s benefits to the Customer.

  • Create equipment procurement specifications in order to engage the supply chain and obtain vendor offers for the required equipment. Working with the Sourcing team review the offers and determine the best technical solution.

  • Develop the proposal into a practical solution and supervise the creation of the design and installation integration drawings and other documents.

  • Work with the mechanical, electrical and civil designers to integrate the auxiliary system design in to the overall solution and ensure that the necessary provision is made and interfaces are managed.

  • Engage with the Customer, as required, to articulate the proposed design and answer questions or queries that may be raised.

  • Working with the installation and commissioning team, develop a testing regime to ensure that the system meets it’s functional and legislative obligations.

Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will have the following qualification and experience:

  • A first degree in electrical engineering. (Or equivalent experience)

  • More than 5 years’ experience working in a role where you are the design and delivery of HV systems for an HVDC Project, and have a strong working knowledge of the following topics:

  • HV Components – equipments and systems

  • Station layouts

  • MEP & CW system Interfaces

  • Statutory compliances

  • Quality processes

  • Scheduling of engineering activities, managing interfaces

  • Representing to client and other stake holders the integrated overall primary systems

  • The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of HV Engineering & system networks, and the equipment available to realise the design. You will also have a working knowledge of related standards and documents, such as IEC-62271, in order to understand the design constraints that need to be adhered too.

  • You will be confident to discuss these topics with internal stakeholders & customers and be able to propose solutions or improvements needed to create successful designs that can then be delivered.

  • You will be a team player, with good communication and interpersonal skills, be capable of self-management, and have a high degree of flexibility, resilience and a self-learning attitude.

  • Experience in technical problem solving

  • Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution industry

  • Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel worldwide.
