Job Summary: As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and vehicles. Your primary duties will include diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting routine maintenance tasks, and performing necessary repairs to ensure the safe and efficient operation of diesel-powered equipment. You will work closely with other mechanics and technicians to troubleshoot complex problems, utilize diagnostic tools and equipment, and adhere to safety protocols and industry standards. The role requires a strong understanding of diesel engine systems, electrical components, hydraulic systems, and the ability to interpret technical manuals and diagrams. Your expertise will contribute to minimizing downtime, optimizing vehicle performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting inspections and diagnostic tests on diesel engines and vehicles.
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
  • Repairing or replacing engine components, brakes, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
  • Using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Maintaining detailed records of repairs, parts inventory, and service history.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborating with other mechanics and technicians to solve complex problems.
  • Following manufacturer specifications and guidelines for repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Providing recommendations for preventive maintenance to enhance vehicle performance and longevity.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and vehicle systems.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
