Hours Per Week: 40.00

Work Schedule: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Summary:

Maintenance Worker performs a variety of general and planned maintenance duties such as plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, painting, grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain boilers and auxiliary equipment for producing steam for heat, sterilization, and other purposes.

  • Operate and maintain chill water plant and auxiliary equipment for producing chilled water for cooling.

  • Operate and maintain all mechanical support equipment.

  • Conduct rounds of all mechanical spaces while maintaining proper operating logs.

  • Assists in Fire, Emergency, and all other drills.

  • Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of Hospital and offsite clinics goals, objectives, and activities.

  • Proficiency in building maintenance systems.

  • Must be self-directed and able to handle prioritization successfully making good decisions in minimal time.

  • Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, patience, and respect. Communicates with all customers in a respectful, positive, and professional manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain poise in highly stressful situations and de-escalate conflicts.

  • Must possess strong organizational, management and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities/projects at one time.

  • Other Duties.

Other Information:

  • Plumbing and HVAC licensing/experience is a plus but not a requirement of this position.

  • Previous experience with computerized preventive maintenance programs is a plus but not a requirement of this position.

  • 6:00am to 2:30pm Monday through Friday.

  • On call rotating schedule

  • State of Maine Stationary Steam Engineer License or expected to be certified and licensed within 12 months of hire.

Education

  • Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)
