Job Summary
As the Software Engineer - Google Cloud Platform you will be responsible for the definition, development, and implementation of new systems, and major enhancements to existing systems, as well as production support for systems with high complexity.
Job Description
We are looking for a Software Engineer to provide project leadership for a Google Cloud Platform project. This position will be a full-time 6 month contract and remote .
What You'll Do
Lead the development and implementation of new systems and major enhancements to existing systems on GCP
Provide production support for highly complex systems
Conduct feasibility or business systems analysis studies
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
Utilize GCP services such as Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Run, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL
Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform
Perform database modeling and design
Ensure data engineering tasks are completed using tools like Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Hive
Write and maintain Python scripts for data engineering tasks
Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
What You'll Need
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or additional years of experience
5-7+ years of experience
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Experience with data engineering tools and technologies, such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Hive
Knowledge of the GCP environment
Terraform development
Database modeling
Experience with Hadoop and Hive
Experience with Spark and PySpark
Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, such as virtual machines, storage, and networking
Experience with cloud-based data engineering tools and services
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Familiarity with GCP services, such as Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Run, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL
Experience with GCP APIs and SDKs
Familiarity with data modeling and database design
Strong SQL skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:
Experience writing Python scripts for data engineering tasks
Familiarity with Python libraries for data manipulation and analysis, such as NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy
Healthcare or insurance background preferred
Experience Hadoop and Hive
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
