Job Overview:

The Principal QHSES Assurance Specialist is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex QHSES Assurance-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. They may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and are regarded as a specialist in the field of QHSES Assurance. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in QHSES Assurance and broad knowledge of the QHSES Assurance discipline within the QHSES function.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Create good visibility and physical presence of OME QHSES Assurance function to Qatar Operations

  • Ensure all Qatar applicable certifications remain adequate and up-to-date (minimum ISO 9/29/14/45k)

  • Support/coach/coordinate implementation and updating of unifi procedures and Intelex modules in the Qatar office incl liaison with Projects and QFAB fabrication yard

  • Member of OME QHSES Assurance Team; participating in team’s programs and activities

  • Cover the QHSES assurance and continual improvement activities of operations and support functions in Qatar, in cooperation with the OME QHSES Assurance team in Jebel Ali. Examples of such activities: Support with Intelex (QHSES database) and Unifi (McDermott’s management system) awareness, rollout, troubleshooting, QHSES Assurance Objectives & Targets setting, Audit scheduling and support, support with management reviews, QHSES performance reporting (KPI’s, Intelex), oversee and/or conduct RCA’s as assigned, development/review/updating of assurance procedures

  • Liaise with internal and external entities on Quality and HSES related matters

  • Identify and execute continuous improvement projects to improve process effectiveness and efficiency

  • Assist in the preparation of the organization to apply for external certifications and awards

  • Assist in gap analysis, evidence & documentation presentation

  • Accompany all extrinsic Auditors, follow up with actions, maintain our licenses, and conduct External Surveillance Audits

  • Oversee the KPI, QI, and performance QHSES process, trend analysis on a country level and initiate ground-level documentation and understand benchmarks and lessons learned within the operating units

  • Analyze trends of all the measurement data to assist in setting targets and future planning, in establishing action plans for improvement, and effectively follow-up to verify compliance

  • Conduct training sessions for QHSES Assurance education and oversee and plan future training requirements for new employees

  • Develop training material for QHSES Assurance as required

  • Assist Projects in conducting Customer Satisfaction Surveys (CSS) and reporting Lessons Learned

  • Other QHSES Assurance tasks as requested by the Sr Manager QHSES Assurance

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Quality, HSE, or Engineering related discipline

  • Ten plus (10+) years of relevant experience related to EPC construction and fabrication

  • Possess ISO 9001:2015, and/or 14001:2015, and/or 45001:2018 Internal or Lead Auditor training

  • Ability to work as a Team Member as well as act as a Team Leader

  • Ability to understand and positively respond to organizational demands in a continuously changing business environment

  • Demonstrated strong decision-making skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills for evaluating trending data

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to work at all levels with PMTs and functional departments in a tactful and effective manner

  • Clear communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken

  • Pro-active mindset

  • Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Attention to detail as well as the overall picture

  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking

  • Ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
