What you'll do

Technical Functions

  • Perform semi-skilled work in shops required to maintain aircraft, engines, and components and Accomplish cabin-related work

  • Perform wet fiberglass lay-ups

  • Use of general air tools, (Paint guns, sanders, high speeds)

  • Specialized industrial equipment, (Blasters, Flow thru washers, down draft tables, De-rivet machine)

  • Remove and/or repair lavatories and galleys

  • Remove and/or repair airplane seats

  • Remove, repair and/or install aircraft carpets and seat fabrics

  • Remove, repair and/or install cabin windows

  • Remove and/or install floorboards

  • Remove, repair and/or install sidewall and ceiling panels

  • Perform painting, stripping, and taping in hangar operations

  • Fabricate airplane parts and components

  • Lubricate airplane parts and components

  • Sign for the quality of own workmanship

  • Complete forms connected to work assignments

All you'll need for success

In addition to the above, the Overhaul Support Mechanic upon request assist management in areas such as, but not limited to.

  • Use of basic hand tools, (Calibrated tooling)

  • Compressed air hazards

  • Create and respond to shop or work orders

  • Maintain knowledge of and use repair manuals and tech data

  • Use equipment and tools needed to make repairs including basic hand tools (e.g., tape measurer, wrenches, screw drivers, pliers) and specialized industrial equipment (e.g., wheel blasters)

  • Operate lifting equipment, including manipulator, hoists, lift tables

  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE; e.g., respirators, gloves, coveralls, hearing protection, safety glasses, hearing protection, close-toed footwear)

  • Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks, as assigned

  • Clean aircraft windshields

  • Clean work area

Overhaul Support Mechanic Work Conditions

General Functions

  • Perform duties in extreme environmental conditions, including extreme heat (over 100° Fahrenheit), extreme cold (below 32° Fahrenheit), rain, sleet, wind, and snow

  • Perform duties that require general safety awareness (e.g., when working in an area with moving vehicles)

  • Perform duties in conditions that are dirty (e.g., dirt, dust, grime)

  • Maneuver into confined, tight, or awkward spaces (e.g., galleys, lavatories) to make repairs

  • Lift heavy and/or bulky airplane parts including aircraft seats, lavatories, galleys, flight controls, wheels, and brakes

  • Complete repairs that require repetitive motions (e.g., sanding)

  • Adhere to government (e.g., DOT, FAA, TSA) regulations

  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and performance standards

  • Work according to supervisor’s or Crew Chief’s instructions, as applicable

  • Perform duties in an area with moving vehicles and other physical hazards

  • Use computers and other relevant electronic systems to complete work

American Airlines General Functions

  • Perform all functions in accordance with safety procedures and policies

  • Coordinate with other employees and stakeholders in order to accomplish work tasks

  • Report to position on time, as scheduled, and at assigned station or location, including varying shifts, weekends, and holidays

  • Complete and maintain job-relevant and/or assigned trainings

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Valid A and/or P license or certificate of completion or equivalent from a relevant, accredited trade school and six (6) months relevant experience or Twelve (12) months of verified, hands-on, experience, in a maintenance-related field.

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Ability to operate Mobile scissor lifts and or Boom lifts

  • Work from heights

  • Use of OSHA fail protection where required.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels within the organization
