Job Purpose
The Vice Provost for Partnerships & Workforce will provide strategic leadership and oversight for a robust portfolio of programs and initiatives critical to Wayne State University’s success. Reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President, this key leadership role within the Division of Academic Affairs will champion collaborations across campus and with local, statewide, national, and global partners to strengthen partnerships throughout the region and enhance the university’s reputation as a global leader. Key initiatives in the portfolio include: College to Career, university academic partnerships, international programs, study abroad, the English Language Institute, Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), community service and learning, and executive and professional development. This work directly supports WSU’s strategic plan, prosperity agenda, and academic mission.
Partnership Development and Management
Develop, implement, and assess strategies for academic partnerships across campus and with local, statewide, national, and global stakeholders.
Lead College to Career efforts through intentional partnerships that develop career experiences helping to prepare students for post-graduation success.
Lead the development and execution of complex partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
Oversee the development and implementation of collaborative academic programs and initiatives.
Represent the university at external meetings and conferences to enhance the university’s reputation as a global leader.
Community Engagement
Create new and enhance existing engagement opportunities that strengthen the university’s commitment to the surrounding community.
Collaborate with community organizations to meet the institutional mission of positively impacting local and global communities.
Implement strategies aligned with the university’s strategic focus area of outreach and engagement, demonstrating our inextricable ties with the community.
International Initiatives
Develop strategies to enhance the university’s global engagement efforts including: education abroad, student global engagement, and international programs and scholars.
Provide leadership in the administration of international programs, including compliance.
Collaborate with university departments to integrate international perspectives across curricular and co-curricular matters.
Advocate for policies that support international educational efforts.
Strategic Leadership and Planning
Develop and implement strategic plans for partnerships, workforce development, and international initiatives that align with the university's overall strategic plan, the prosperity agenda, and institutional priorities.
Serve as a visionary leader who will champion innovation and drive transformative change within the Division of Academic Affairs.
Conduct regular reviews of emerging trends in higher education as it relates to partnerships, workforce, and global affairs.
Oversee and manage the unit budget ensuring effective resources allocation.
Provide leadership and support to the staff within the unit and across the Division of Academic Affairs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Doctorate degree
Requires a terminal degree. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience)
Requires 7 or more years related experience providing administrative oversight.
