Romancare Health Services Substance Abuse Counselor in Detroit, Michigan

The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide direct services to individuals dealing with substance use disorders. This role includes conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, leading therapy sessions, and offering crisis intervention. The counselor will work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to support clients' recovery and help them achieve long-term sobriety.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' substance use, mental health status, and personal history. Identify underlying issues contributing to substance abuse. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments.

Counseling and Therapy: Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and other modalities. Offer crisis intervention as needed.

Case Management: Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, social workers, and support services. Monitor clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Advocate for clients' needs within the healthcare and social services systems.

Education and Prevention: Educate clients and their families about substance abuse, treatment options, and recovery strategies. Facilitate workshops and seminars on substance abuse prevention and health education.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Prepare reports for supervisors and other stakeholders as required.

Ethics and Confidentiality: Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines in the treatment of clients. Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.

Continual Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities. Stay current with the latest research and best practices in substance abuse treatment.
