Description

Robert Half trusted client is seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our team based in Detroit, Michigan. This role is a key part of our financial team, providing essential services in a variety of sectors, primarily focusing on the management of debt, water and sewer services, grants management, and state and revolving loans. This role is a long-term contract position and offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals.

The day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Ensure accurate and efficient processing of complex agreements for water and sewer services.

• Prepare and present reports, including monthly reports on revenues and receivables to municipalities.

• Understand and manage various types of billing, including water services, wastewater services, waste control, and specialized billing on lead and copper.

• Prepare and review journal entries as part of the accounting process.

• Maintain and prepare work papers to feed into audits.

• Lead weekly billing and collections team meetings to troubleshoot any issues.

• Utilize various skills and software such as Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following skill sets:

• Must hold a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is required

• Demonstrated experience with General Ledger management and Journal Entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with Month End Close processes

• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP is a must

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is a plus

• Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment

• Professional certification such as CPA is preferred.
