GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
RECREATION DIVISION
PUBLIC SERVICE ATTENDANT
Under general supervision, as a lead person, to perform work involving contacts with the public and minor clerical and/or manual tasks in connection with the operation of a municipal commercial public service enterprise or similar.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities ( may perform other duties as assigned )
At a bathhouse or swimming pool, sells admission tickets; gives out and collects locker keys.
Checks clothing and valuables.
Sells merchandise, such as bathing caps.
Maintains order.
Directs patrons to lockers.
Cleans locker rooms and flush pool decks.
Prepares reports and accounts for cash taken in.
Makes inspection trips at regular intervals.
Directs visitors to the various exhibits, galleries or staff offices.
Sells catalogs and programs of exhibits.
Collects fees.
Maintains premises in a clean and orderly condition.
Keeps crowds orderly.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications (required):
Completion of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Two (2) years of experience in public service or other activities involving contacts with the public
One (1) year of which has been in a supervisory capacity.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Special Requirements:
If certifies to a position involving the handling of food, must be eligible and able to obtain a valid food handler’s card.
Equivalency
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
• In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
- An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
• Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
