Position Purpose:

Postdoctoral position in research group at the Institute of Environmental Health Sciences/Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors, Integrative Biosciences Center (IBio), Wayne State University will involve active projects in the lab, central regulation of metabolism and environmental stressors, central regulation of metabolism and neuron-glia interactions during normal aging and Alzheimer’s disease.

Essential Functions:

Develop and conduct state-of-the-art scientific experiments with mouse models of disease, initially with supervision and then progressively independent work.

Mouse colony management.

Assist graduate students in training and experimental design.

Write manuscripts.

Actively support applications for grants, including working on project descriptions and research methodology with the Principal Investigator (PI).

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Doctorate degree

Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or related

Experience: Entry level (less than a year of job-related experience)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cellular Biology, Genomics, Neuroscience, or a related field and a strong publication record are required.

Candidates with a background in epigenetics, experience/interest in metabolic disease research, mice models, next-generation sequencing, and/or computational biology/bioinformatics are preferred.
