Position Description:
We are looking for an Entry Level Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Michigan offices. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and zero to three years of experience. Completion of Part I of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication/coordination skills are essential.
This position will design civil/structural components for electrical substation projects, including but not limited to, steel design, steel connection design, foundation design, and anchorage design, in accordance with governing industry codes and standards.
This position requires periods of intense concentration. This position is hybrid, with the option to be within a normal office environment, work fully remote, or a combination thereof. This position requires infrequent travel.
This position will provide frequent exposure to structural design standards and codes, including but not limited to, AISC, ASCE, ACI, and IBC. This position will require the use of engineering software, including but not limited to, STAAD, MathCAD, and LPILE.

Typical responsibilities include:
- - Validate all designs by performing engineering calculations in accordance with governing industry code and client standards - Utilize finite element modeling and other engineering software to design complex, multi-legged and multi-use, deep foundations, validating all results with supplemental hand calculations - Perform hand calculations for designs that cannot or should not be done using software - Prepare construction drawings with the assistance of a designer/technician competent in the use of industry standard CADD software, and in accordance with client standards - Prepare fabrication level steel drawings and bill of materials - Prepare construction specifications and project documents, in accordance with both client and industry standards - Attend site visits as required - Assist in the preparation of proposals - Assist Project Managers as needed - Attend client, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc. - Attend seminars and/or training classes - Maintain excellent client relations - Maintain a safe working environment
