Our trusted client is seeking a Controller Consultant for a long-term engagement. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing payroll liabilities and employer expenses, ensuring all tax responsibilities are accurately reported and reconciled within each month. This hybrid role is located in Detroit, Michigan and will report directly to the CFO.

The day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Execute thorough payroll audits and delve into detailed investigations as necessary

• Accurately calculate payroll liabilities versus employer expenses for a large volume of employees

• Ensure all tax liabilities are accurately reported and reconciled within each month

• Verify tax withholdings and payroll with meticulous attention to detail

• Use Microsoft Excel and Oracle for account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations

• Maintain the general ledger and make necessary journal entries

• Manage month-end close processes

• Handle local payroll tax matters and oversee payroll for over 500 employees.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:

• Applicant must have a minimum of 7 years of experience as an accountant.

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation is a requirement.

• Experience with Balance Sheet Reconciliation is mandatory.

• Knowledge of Bank Reconciliations is necessary.

• Applicant should have a strong understanding of General Ledger.

• Ability to perform Journal Entries is a prerequisite.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary.

• Experience with Month End Close is required.

• Familiarity with Oracle software is an added advantage.

• Knowledge of Local Payroll Tax is essential.

• Experience in handling Payroll for over 500 Employees is required.
