COMPLIANCE AND ETHICS SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Compliance and Ethics Specialist to join our dynamic organization, dedicated to helping health plan members achieve their healthiest lives.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Corporate Compliance and Ethics to support and enhance our compliance and ethics program. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring the successful establishment and monitoring of all seven elements of an effective corporate compliance program.

You will also play a critical role in supporting internal and external audits, including HITRUST certifications, maintaining adherence to HIPAA standards, and proactively identifying tools and strategies to mitigate compliance risks.

Key duties include oversight of BeneLynk’s First Tier, Downstream and Related entities (FDR) as outlined by C enters for Medicare and Medicaid Services and managing compliance training initiatives and Compliance Week activities . You will also conduct internal assessments to assess vendors’ performance to validate align ment with compliance standards and contractual obligations and con tinu ing adherence.

Success in this role requires exceptional cross-functional collaboration across diverse teams to foster an enterprise-wide culture of compliance and ethics, mitigate risks, and support our mission to deliver exceptional service while upholding the highest ethical standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strengthen Compliance and Ethics Program: Support the development and maintenance of a robust compliance and ethics program to effectively manage and mitigate compliance-related risks.

  • Integrate Diverse Perspectives: Facilitate collaboration across compliance, operations, employee, and customer perspectives to drive a unified approach to compliance.

  • Monitor and Enforce Compliance: Assist in the design, monitoring, and coordination of privacy and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and identifying potential vulnerabilities and risks.

  • Policy Management: Oversee the tracking and facilitation of policy reviews with the Policy Review Committee, drafting new policies as necessary to align with organizational goals and regulations.

  • Audit Coordination: Prepare and organize audit materials, provide support, and actively participate in internal and external audits.

  • Document Analysis : Review and validate submitted Power of Attorney, Guardianship, and Conservatorship documents for completeness and accuracy.

  • Training Oversight: Manage and oversee the development, delivery, and tracking of annual and ad hoc compliance training programs.

  • Records Maintenance: Maintain comprehensive records to support compliance reviews and audit requirements.

  • Facilitate Compliance Meetings: Coordinate and lead monthly Compliance Workgroup meetings to ensure alignment and progress on key initiatives.

  • Investigations Support: Assist in conducting compliance and ethics investigations, ensuring thorough analysis and resolution.

  • Proactive Monitoring and Auditing: Perform reviews to develop proactive monitoring controls and identify opportunities for auditing to mitigate risks.

  • Recommendations and Best Practices: Apply industry best practices and provide recommendations based on employee and customer insights to enhance compliance processes.

  • Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Oversight: Provide organizational support regarding the BCP to ensure awareness and thorough planning of key activities during an interruption in business due to a variety of incidents.

  • Vendor Management: Support vendor management activities, ensuring downstream vendors meet performance expectations and comply with contractual requirements.

  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the compliance and ethics program and organizational objectives.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in health plan compliance, health plan operations, complaints and grievances, appeals, risk management, or a comparable field. Relevant educational qualifications may also be considered.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, including demonstrated expertise in drafting company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and effectively engaging with all levels of leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to work both collaboratively within teams and independently, depending on the needs of the situation. Must excel at adapting to diverse scenarios and audiences, managing multiple priorities with poise, efficiency, and resilience under pressure.

  • Experience in presenting information to teams, stakeholders, and/or executives.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to create project/product specifications and/or verbal communication channels.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in MSFT Office Suite (MSFT Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and/or related software.

  • Willingness to learn and leverage newly obtained skillsets.

  • Willingness to perform research and analysis when/if applicable, and/or required.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

    PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EDUCATION: (Preferred but Not Required)

  • HIPAA and/or other Compliance Certifications a plus, or a willingness to obtain within the first 180 days of employment .

  • Experience in relevant fields including health plan systems, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits and/or SDoH database companies.

  • Managed care experience.

  • Project Management experience.

  • Knowledge of CMS requirements.

  • Experience developing and delivering topical training.

  • Experience managing outside vendors.

  • Experience supporting external audits and conducting internal assessments.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to fifteen pounds at a time.

  • Must have a stable internet connection.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This role is a remote position.

    POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    Full-time/Exempt – This is a salaried position.

    SALARY

    Based on Experience; Up to $85,000 annually
