Assitant Site Coordinator - C2 Pipeline

Essential functions (job duties):

Responsible for assisting the Site Coordinator and Site Leader in implementing high school educational activities at assigned site. Assist in coordinating activities that include academic learning experiences, field trips and act as site-based liaison among program staff, school staff, community partners, students, and parents.

Assist Site Coordinator and Site Leader in program development and implementation, open houses, field trips, special exhibits and any performances. Supervise assigned after-school site in the absence of the Site Coordinator.

Perform daily program functions such as follow-ups on absent students, via phone calls or letters and document all attempts to contact. Distribution and supervision of meals. Remain with students in the cafeteria at all times.

Assist with homework, missing or incomplete day school assignments. Lead tutoring sessions for the C2

Pipeline student group. Teach Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) and/or Essential Enrichment classes. Ensure communication plan between day school site and C2 Pipeline program is being followed.

Maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with school district personnel, students, parents, community partners, etc.

Assist in managing and actively engaging high school student groups. Act as a role model for enrolled C2 Pipeline participants socially and academically.

Attend all trainings mandated by Michigan Department of Human Services Bureau of Children and Adult

Licensing requirements. Participate in additional training and workshops as designated by the after-school program.

Effectively plan for the classes, programs and enrichment. Write and or follow lesson plans that accompany the curriculum.

Assist with the Michigan Department of Education and MSU 21st CCLC surveys, data collection and deadlines. Assist with the David P. Wikart Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA), assessments and observations.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Unique duties:

Qualifications:

Education: Associate's degree

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an educational or youth related field preferred.

  • In lieu of Bachelor's Degree Department the Health and Human Services Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers Rule 400.8122 will be followed to include; Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; Montessori Credential with 480 hours experience in a youth related program; valid CDA with 480 hours experience in a youth related program; high school diploma/GED with 12 semester hours in coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development and 960 hours experience in youth related field; high school diploma/GED with a combination of 12 semester hours and/or 18 CEU’s to equal 180 clock hours and/or 18 CEU’s to equal 180 clock hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or child-related field and 1,920 hours experience in a youth related field; high school Diploma/GED with a combination of 6 semester hours and/or 9 CEU’s to equal 90 clock hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or child-related field and 3,840 hours experience in a youth related field.

  • Prior to employment, must pass all background checks required by the Department of Human Services Daycare Licensing Guidelines and Wayne State University employment policies.

  • Must secure Live Scan fingerprinting, show proof of TB Skin Results from within one year of employment, show proof of any immunizations required by the assigned high school or university, show evidence of Bloodborne Pathogen Training prior to working with students.

Experience: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

  • Experience with “At-Risk” youth preferred.

  • Experience and knowledge in STEM education preferred.

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification prior to working with students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate a mature and professional attitude in dealing with students, parents, school district staff and community partners.

  • Evidence of organizational, supervisory and the interpersonal skills required to run effective pipeline programing and establish good relationships with students, parents, school district staff and co-workers.
