Here at the Building & Construction Products Division, the Electrical & Electronics Systems and Component Engineering Team is chartered to provide intelligent, reliable, cost-effective Electrical and Electronics components and systems to BCP Prime Product Groups for use in Caterpillar machines across the world. We are looking for an Engineer to support machine electrification development.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering solutions to our customers with the design, development, and integration of systems and components for fully electrified machines. You will work with teams within our division and across Caterpillar to gather requirements for and lead the design of high-voltage electrical architecture, component selection, validation, and testing. These solutions will be evaluated on the criteria of both meeting customer requirements as well as creating an optimized, compliant set of solutions that best meet Caterpillar's business objectives. You will provide technical solutions that will shape the future of Caterpillar’s Building and Construction Product division’s product offerings.

In Your Role You Will:

  • Design high-voltage electrical system architecture

  • Develop high-voltage components including strategic supplier selection

  • Guide the team on matters of high-voltage electrical compliance, safety, and risk

  • Collaborate with enterprise and industry partners for high voltage harness and cabling and related components

  • Provide high-voltage decision-making and hands-on support for machine testing, validation, and issue investigation /resolution

You Will Have:

  • Electrification or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience

  • Existing knowledge of high-voltage electrical system architecture (experience is considered a great advantage)

  • Eagerness to collaborate and communicate daily with peers and other departments at all levels and cross-functionally

  • Ability to present your ideas clearly and negotiate in a balanced but effective manner to represent Building and Construction Products Electrification requirements to enterprise partners

  • Analytical thinking and the ability to transform data into business insight

  • Aptitude towards working on off-road machines solving electrification troubleshooting and gaining hands-on knowledge and experience

  • Willingness to work autonomously

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Previous experience in developing battery electric machine technology

  • Fundamental understanding of mobile machine operation, ideally construction equipment and operations

  • Experience with the engineering design process and 3D tools

We Offer:

  • Permanent Contract

  • Salary: £45,000 to 58,000 annually
