Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Associate Gateway Agent in Concord, California. This role is rooted in the shipping industry, requiring the individual to understand the documentation and processes involved in international shipping, from the issuance of the purchase order to the delivery of the cargo. The role is based in an office setting where the individual will be expected to maintain operational excellence and facilitate relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Understand the processes, documentation, and terminology involved in international shipping from the time of purchase order issuance to the delivery of the cargo.
• Initiate, prepare, process, and assemble all required documentation for air LCL or FCL shipments.
• Ensure documentation is accurately processed, distributed, and released to carrier, customers, and agents in a timely manner.
• Apply industry knowledge and critical thinking to adapt processes and create solutions in response to challenges both internally and externally.
• Execute and coordinate tasks on the shipments to meet all SOP requirements including submission of SLIs to carriers, ocean export bills of lading updates on shipments, processing pre-alerts, tracking of shipments, invoicing, etc.
• Create, maintain, and update shipments in Navisphere ensuring accurate data.
• Ensure a high-level of data integrity on the master level of a consolidation including routing, eManifest status, master level INCO terms, and documents.
• Communicate clearly both internally and externally timely and effectively with overseas offices, agents, customers, and outside vendors to ensure a smooth flow of the shipment.
• Promote a positive working relationship for all team members.
• Work according to local and global laws, regulations, and procedures. Requirements • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and retention
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members, clients, and vendors
• Proficiency in handling documentation tasks with meticulous attention to detail
• Knowledge of standard procedures and ability to adhere to them consistently
• Experience in managing invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft Office Suites for efficient task management
• Familiarity with 'About Time' time management software
• Understanding of shipping functions and their execution in a timely manner
• Experience in dealing with vendors, maintaining positive relationships
• Fast and accurate typing skills for efficient data entry
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and law, ensuring compliance in all tasks
• Experience in managing purchase orders and consolidations
• Ability to execute tasks effectively, meeting all set objectives
• Excellent prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proficiency in 10 key skills for fast data entry
• Experience in submission of reports, documents, and other necessary paperwork
• Familiarity with standard operation procedures, ensuring efficiency in task execution
• Creative and innovative thinking, contributing to problem-solving and business growth
• Strong focus on data integrity, ensuring accuracy and reliability of all data handled
• Familiarity with cargo handling and related procedures
• Proactive in identifying and implementing strategies for business growth.
