Job Description
This is a courtesy posting for the Iowa State Fair.
The Iowa State Fair is seeking a Full-Time Police Officer to join the Iowa State Fairgrounds team. Officers will work a 12-hour Panama Shift schedule, with the current vacancy from4:00 PM to 4:00 AM.
Desired Qualifications:
Must be ILEA certified.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in law enforcement.
Supervisory experience is preferred, but not required.
Applicants must pass an MMPI test, background check, fingerprint check, drug screen, and an oral review process.
Job Responsibilities:
Enforce state and federal regulations, codes, laws, and administrative rules on the Iowa State Fairgrounds and properties.
Respond to calls for service, including complaints and emergency situations.
Conduct uniformed preventative patrols, 24/7.
Investigate crimes (e.g., major crimes, traffic violations, theft, domestic disputes, intoxication, security alarms) and complete reports.
Prepare supplementary reports for investigations.
Arrest and process individuals, including searching and seizing property, evidence collection, and transportation of offenders.
Identify and correct safety hazards around roadways, conduct crash analysis, investigate accidents, assist motorists, and manage traffic flow.
Collaborate with citizens and community groups, including referrals to agencies, welfare checks, and crime prevention education.
Assist during emergency situations, including fire, EMS, and severe weather response.
Inspect and maintain law enforcement vehicles and equipment.
Supervise specialized police operations during major events, such as the Iowa State Fair, World Pork Expo, and Good Guys Car Show.
Be available for mandatory overtime during major events.
Work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies for offender apprehension, investigations, and major event coordination.
Perform security checks on buildings, grounds, and other Iowa State Fair properties.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Must have successfully completed the I.L.E.A. law enforcement training academy; and if retired from law enforcement as a certified peace officer in good standing, must be able to recertify through the I.L.E.A.
Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent, with a preference given to candidates with a two-year community college or vocational school degree, or four-year college degree in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice, criminal administration, public administration. Or related field;
