    Job Description:

    SUMMARY

Responsible for building, repairing and overhauling manufacturing equipment, jigs and fixtures. Assist engineers, production and manufacturing managers with repair jobs and other projects, such as building maintenance, special projects, fixtures, equipment, etc. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with production and manufacturing leaders to start machines, to inspect or test parts and machines, and to observe mechanical operation to troubleshoot and determine fixes and alternate solutions for issues. Reassemble machines after completion of repair or maintenance work.

  • Collaborate with design team and other engineers or leaders to install, replace or change machines or machine parts, according to specifications. Supports production and manufacturing through implementation periods and to determine proper 5S for smooth implementation and any necessary troubleshooting.

  • Build and design custom production equipment, jigs, and fixtures using off the shelf pieces, and customizing for special projects.

  • Perform repair, rebuilding, or overhaul work of manufacturing equipment, jigs, and fixtures from blueprints, company manufacturing manuals, written or verbal instructions.

  • Assist in cleaning up facilities following special projects or implementation of new equipment throughout the facilities, including production, manufacturing, warehouse or general building projects. Includes collecting and discarding of parts or equipment and disposing of properly.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, service, etc., on production and manufacturing equipment as scheduled. Verify machines or equipment is fully operational prior to marking job as complete. Record and file all required PM paperwork accordingly.

  • Follow proper safety protocol and procedures during all manners of work, including, but not limited to, lockout-tagout regulations, clean work area expectations, and safety audit checklists (i.e., daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually).

  • Assist in maintaining stock of materials, equipment or products that are generally needed for production or building maintenance

  • Knowledge and demonstrate the ability to install, program and trouble shoot PLC controlled automation, camera systems and robotic systems.

  • Other responsibilities may be added as required.

    Experience and Skills:

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three yrs’ experience in the maintenance and repair of equipment

  • 2 year technical Degree from Community college or 4 year Engineering Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred

  • Able to use required tools, fixtures, rulers, and read blueprints and specifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including PLCs

  • Experience with robotics and automation, including programming

  • Strong attention to detail & care to prevent damage to complex machines, parts and tools

  • Able to work independently with little supervision

  • Able to troubleshoot and prepare alternate resolutions

  • Good work attendance and dependability

  • Must have good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems as they intermix in industrial equipment for high speed manufacturing

  • Must be able to learn and apply new skills (i.e., latest manufacturing technology)

The employee is frequently required to use hands to grasp, finger or handle objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or exert force from 25 up to 75 pounds. Push and/or pull up to 300 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Employee must have sufficient manual dexterity to operate machinery for precision work.

The job requires use of respirator; must pass the physical requirement and be fit tested for respirator.
