Job Title: Director of Procurement

Job Description

The Director of Procurement will manage a team of 7 Buyers, overseeing the holistic procurement strategy and vision. This role involves providing mentorship, coaching, development opportunities, and overall leadership to the procurement team. The Director will be responsible for establishing, tracking, and holding team members accountable for departmental KPIs, increasing total gross profit across all categories, and directing inventory management and fulfillment at six successful business units around the Midwest.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee holistic procurement strategy and vision

  • Provide mentorship, coaching, development opportunities, and overall leadership to the procurement team

  • Establish, track, and hold team members accountable for departmental KPIs

  • Increase total gross profit among all categories

  • Direct inventory management and fulfillment at six successful business units around the Midwest

  • Reduce inventory shrink through process change and training

  • Improve and maintain optimal inventory levels with your team to support on-time deliveries

  • Grow partnerships with existing produce suppliers, and continually evaluate new and qualified produce suppliers

  • Grow specialty categories with marketing and sales support, and develop vendor relationships with specialty suppliers to support growth needs

  • Support in negotiating vendor contracts and critical business needs

  • Maintain and improve the overall company supply chain, including the carrier network for inbound loads and inter-company shuttle needs

  • Support the quality assurance team and help to improve QA processes and procedures

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with fresh/perishable products

  • FRESH FOOD

  • Management experience with a focus on developing and mentoring teams

  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of prior procurement experience

  • 2-3 years in a management role with a proven track record of developing employees

  • Produce and wholesale foods purchasing/procurement

  • Experience in executing a purchasing strategy that has improved gross margin

  • Ability to work well with both internal associates and external partners

  • Strong desire to learn new things and apply new skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills

Work Environment

This is an onsite position with working hours from Monday through Friday, either from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $150000.00
